Sigler Companies Honored in Three Categories of Publishing Industry's Gold Ink Awards

AMES, Iowa, December 8, 2008 – Sigler Companies has taken pewter honors in three categories of the 2008 Gold Ink Awards Competition for the year's best printing in North America.

The Gold Ink Panel of Judges selected Sigler's award-winning pieces from nearly 1,500 entries submitted this year within 46 categories. Winning work surpassed competitors based on print quality, technical difficulty and overall visual effect.

Sigler's honors were announced this fall by the annual awards' co-sponsors, Publishing Executive and Printing Impressions magazines, published by the North American Publishing Co. of Philadelphia. This is the 21st year for the awards, which Publishing Executive touts as the industry's most prestigious print competition.

Sigler's winning entries covered three diverse categories, ranging from artistic printmaking to strategic print communications for business development and marketing. The panel conferred certificates on Sigler work in the areas of Fine Arts Lithography, Folders and Media Kits:

  • In the Media Kits category, Sigler received recognition for its REG Corporate Folder. The folder, designed for Renewable Energy Group Inc., Ames, features four-color process printing with aqueous dull and spot varnish. The media kit was printed on a Heidelberg press with Toyo Ink on NewPage Corp. paper. Sigler's all-purpose portfolio positions market leader REG as a complete biodiesel solution with a printed carrier capable of delivering a diverse range of informational booklets, brochures, fact sheets and other business collateral.
  • In the Folders category, judges cited Sigler for its Presentation Folder. The versatile matte-black pocket portfolio features a design that incorporates a blind emboss with a clear-foil and a red-foil stamp. Sigler uses the branded identity piece regularly for a wide array of corporate submissions.
  • In the Fine Arts Lithography category, Sigler took home an award for its "Feels Like Home" Art Print. The project was a limited-edition print run for Ames-based artist and illustrator Dave Popelka. Sigler produced the lithograph on a Heidelberg press using Toyo Ink on NewPage Corp. paper.

"Sigler is widely recognized as one of the Midwest's elite print partners – able to meet clients' communication and branding needs with a potent mix of strategy, creative solutions, quality and environmental responsibility," said Sigler Companies President Beth Cross. "This industry recognition helps provide tangible examples of the creativity, technology and craftsmanship that define our work."

Sigler representatives were presented the awards Oct. 27 in Chicago during Graph Expo® 2008. Graph Expo is an annual trade show for graphic design, digital prepress, printing, publishing and converting technology.
