Shipping Manager
Job Description:
The function of this position is to monitor and maximize the performance of a high-volume shipping department, provide overall leadership in operational performance, improvement, and employee development.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily shipping operations and working with shipping vendors to facilitate on time shipments and service to our customers.
- Must have a working knowledge of U.P.S Worldship and Federal Express software that can be utilized in a high volume shipping department including foreign and domestic shipments.
- Must be forklift certified.
- Drive the operational performance at the facility level, focusing on productivity, quality, and cost.
- Monitor shipping department productivity and cost against budget and provide reports on a regular basis
- Manage daily facility workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e. staffing, equipment, space).
- Supervise shipping department operations to insure maximum productivity, efficiency and quality standards.
- Supervising, training and hiring of employees to work in the shipping department.
- Ensure good preparation for fiscal inventory and supervise daily inventory counts.
- Check and verify shipping records, handling questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages and addressing any problems with appropriate channels.
- Monitor service levels to ensure that performance metrics meet customer requirements and are communicated appropriately.
- Work with Customer Service to establish the highest standards of service, make sure that the agreed procedures are followed, that all shipments are processed in a timely fashion and error-free.
- Monitor and process all merchandise returns or refusals.
- Counts, reconciles and records incoming merchandise, reports shortages/overages to appropriate buyer/vendor in a timely manner, before required deadlines.
- Processes daily receipts accurately to insure correct accounting and invoice reconciliation.
- Supervise delivery drivers
- Reports to senior management on shipping activity status.
- Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced
- Monitor maintenance of vehicles.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-4 years inventory, shipping and management experience preferred.
- Must be comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
- Salary DOE.
- Must have valid drivers license
